FarmHouse Members Volunteer at Camp KYSOC

KYSOC 2010On March 27th, 2010; 21 FarmHouse members travelled to Carrollton, KY to help prepare Camp KYSOC for the upcoming summer camp season.  Camp KYSOC provides a unique summer camp experience for children and adults with physical disabilities.  This is the third consecutive year that the Kentucky chapter of FarmHouse has volunteered at Camp KYSOC and the members really enjoy the relationship that has formed between these two organizations. FarmHouse men helped rake leaves, paint, clean out cabins, and stain a wood bridge at the camp this year.

The 2010 Alumni/Active Bowl-Off successfully brought together the active chapter with 25 alumni as well as housemother Mom Joy, chapter cook Chef Frank, and chapter Sweetheart Susannah Milner.  The great support allowed the Kentucky Chapter to raise over $1,250 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  The active chapter would like to thank the alumni for such a great showing as well as Ale-8-One, Dominoes, and Fazoli's for their generous food and beverage donations to the event.

Awards were given to the top Alumni score, the top Active score, and the most spirited.

Each January, FarmHouse International hosts the FarmHouse Leadership Academy for select officers from every chapter across North America.  This year president, William Osborne, treasurer, Brandon Gilles, VP of New Member Education, Cameron Hamilton, and VP of Recruitment, Alex Mattingly, attended the 3 day conference in Kansas City, Missouri.  The conference encourages the officers to share ideas with other chapters, in addition to providing them with leadership techniques and tools to bring back and implement at their local chapter.  Speakers are featured on a variety of topics that are applicable to FarmHouse and the greek community in general.  This event is definitely a great experience for the attending officers and provides them with knowledge and enthusiasm necessary for the upcoming year.
